MONAD Crypto: Can It Dominate the EVM Market In 2025?

Monad crypto is a newcomer to the Layer-1 market. Although the project is still very much in its early stages, it has already garnered some interest from the Ethereum developer community and crypto traders who are prepared to play around with testnets in exchange for tokens.

Monad claims to solve the trilemma surrounding Ethereum, which refers to the challenge of simultaneously achieving decentralization, security, and scalability. Many Ethereum projects are forced to sacrifice one of these core principles.

Monad makes a lot of big promises on its website, but it is important to note it is still in its early stages of development. One of the claims made by the website suggests that Monad will provide developers with both decentralization and speed.

There are some clear advantages that BlockDAG has over Monad, such as a well-designed crypto-mining ecosystem, a crypto calculator, and a presale that has raised over $200 million. It's worth exploring in detail the Monad crypto project and contrasting it to BlockDAG, which offers many similar features along with a series of advantages to gain a functional understanding of Monad crypto.

MONAD Crypto: A New Layer-1 EVM Player Explained

The Monad crypto project's primary objective is to provide an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible Layer-1 network that can solve the so-called trilemma problem that has reduced the capacity of Ethereum to cater to growing demand.

Ethereum has often suffered from slow speeds and high costs. This is due to the blockchain trilemma, which states that it is difficult to achieve decentralization, security, and scalability simultaneously. Ethereum, in its current state, prioritizes decentralization and security, which has led to scalability issues.

This results in network congestion, slow transaction speeds, and high gas fees, especially during periods of high demand.

The Monad website claims that the network operates at up to 10,000 transactions per second, with nearly $0 transaction fees, and complete EVM compatibility.

MONAD claims to solve the trilemma issue.

If these metrics are correct, then it could be very useful for running dApps. High throughput and low fees are essential for applications that require a large number of transactions, such as decentralized exchanges (DEXs), gaming platforms, and social media networks. This could lead to a surge in developer interest and the creation of a thriving ecosystem of dApps on Monad.

There are some issues with the information available. For example, it is unclear if the TPS refers to smart contract transactions or just simple peer-to-peer transfers. Smart contract transactions are generally more complex and require more computational resources, so they typically have lower TPS.

In its current form, Monad crypto doesn't offer a token, but users and developers can operate on the testnet in exchange for tokens that will go live at an unconfirmed future date.

Optimistic Parallel Execution: A New Approach To Ethereum Scaling

According to Monad, one of the standout features of the network is something called Optimistic Parallel Execution. According to the project's official documentation, this is one of the main solutions to the scaling challenges facing Ethereum.

Optimistic Parallel Execution works by processing blockchain transactions simultaneously using multiple virtual machines. It intelligently predicts which transactions might depend on each other, allowing for optimized scheduling. Once the parallel processing is complete, the results are merged in the correct sequence, ensuring accuracy and maximizing the use of network resources.

Three notable features that function in tandem with Optimistic Parallel Execution include the following:

  1. Asynchronous Execution allows Monad to begin processing the next block of transactions as soon as consensus is reached on the current block, instead of waiting for the current block's execution to fully complete. This overlapping of processes speeds up transactions.
  2. MonadBFT, a specialized consensus mechanism based on HotStuff, streamlines the agreement process between network nodes. Reducing the number of communication steps required increases efficiency and allows for faster block confirmation times.
  3. MonadDB is a custom-built data storage system that optimizes how blockchain data is accessed and managed. This optimization is crucial for Monad's parallel execution capabilities, as it enables rapid data retrieval and storage.

All of this technology sounds very promising, but it is important to note that the project is not yet live, and a presale has not been launched to help raise funds for the Monad crypto token.

BlockDAG vs. Monad Crypto for Investors

There's no doubt that the market is crying out for a next-generation Layer-1 network. For too long, the industry has been dominated by legacy networks that, in many ways, haven't been able to fully leverage the latest technology to overcome poor transaction speeds, centralization, and high costs.

BlockDAG vs. Monad crypto

As Bitcoin mining difficulty grows demand for BlockDAG is expected to increase.

The project that manages to deliver a breakthrough in the Layer-1 space, along with smart contract capability, is highly likely to provide early investors with massive returns. There's no doubt that Monad has laid out a path to successful EVM solutions and has plenty of potential, but it is unlikely to compete with BlockDAG for several reasons.

BlockDAG is arguably already well ahead of the curve, considering its presale has raised over $200 million for its native token. This demonstrates significant investor confidence and provides the project with substantial resources for development and expansion.

BlockDAG goes one step further than other emerging Layer-1s by also solving the crypto mining dilemma facing Bitcoin. It offers a comprehensive mining architecture, accessible to anyone, different miners, low entry barriers, and a crypto profit calculator.

The consensus mechanism laid out by BlockDAG has proven its capacity to outcompete other Layer-1s. Its hybrid approach, combining blockchain and DAG technology, enables high throughput and low fees.

Final Thoughts on Monad Crypto vs. BDAG

Overall, BlockDAG is a more feasible investment for anyone looking to profit from the next Layer-1 bull run, as the token is available to anyone, the tiered presale system locks in price gains, and the network has shown a clear path to scalability. Monad, while promising, lacks a live token and is primarily focused on developer tools at this stage.
